Today is your day!

Today is your Day! Your mountain is waiting. So...get on your way.     Dr. Seuss

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAX!  What a big day it is.  You turned double digits and you are getting confirmed.  Today is a day you will always remember as you have started a new chapter in your journey with Christ.
We had a great time with you this past week and hated to see you go back to Colorado. I can't believe you are TEN.  Let the fun begin!  We love you oh so much.  Aunt Nan, Uncle Greg, Reid and Ethan

Your Freaky Fan

I was leaving to go to work this morning and got into my wagon and started backing up, and I spotted Freddie walking down the street...Well I paused for a second because I was running late, but he was looking especially dapper today, so I whipped back in.  My husband knows me well, as he too had spotted Freddie and he met me at the door with the camera, and said "Just don't freak out Freddie, O.K?"
"I'm not," I replied a little wounded, as I bounded back down the front porch stairs.  What could possibly be "freaky" about a red-head, pulling up in her VW station wagon out of the clear blue, and asking you if she could take your picture because she thinks you look snappy. ???
O.K.- You might have a valid point.  So I approached him a little more calmly, not really but I tried.  I asked him if I could take his picture again, because he was looking extra "spiffy".  Yeah, I used that word "spiffy".   Why are husbands sometimes right?  Why is my husband usually right?  Damn.
Anyway,  without trying to be too "freaky" I learned that he was going to a funeral (sorry), that he is sixty-five and his birthday was on Valentine's Day.  Doesn't he look fabulous though?
So I apologize for being your "freaky" fan Freddie, but I am completely harmless. I will retire the word "spiffy" from my vocabulary too.  adieu.

"My heart leaps up when I behold a RAINBOW in the SKY." William Wordsworth

I was so happy when I came across this image again today. I was randomly searching blogs that I have never perused before.   A friend had posted it many moons ago, and I had even printed it, but the Lord only knows where it is now, probably folded in a book!   At the time, it inspired me to organize my children's bookcase in rainbow order, but like all good rainbows it was to be a temporary illusion.  However, this picture has been forever in my mind and actually inspired my latest house project.  We just completed building beautiful heart pine bookcases, which I promise to show you at a later post.  The bookcases are literally and figuratively  a blank canvas,  and I find it ironic that I ran across this picture again to give me a gentle nudge and to inspire me.
I love books.  I love that it takes both rain and sunshine to make a rainbow.  I love the smell of rain rising off of the hot, steamy  south georgia asphalt  and  then seeing a glorious rainbow.  Crazy good. So naturally, I love this photo.
Enjoy, Nan

IF ONLY IN MY...

DREAMS... I have always wanted to be in a magazine.   I am just giddy with delight and the COVER.  Crazy.  So hurry to your newstand today.  It will be available until June 15th.   It is very well written, with the main focus on the interiors of our 1890 abode.  Enjoy.  Have a great Memorial Day weekend.  I look forward to some sand, seafood, vino, and the Colorado cousins.

Dapper Dan or in this case, Freddie.

I have been fascinated by this man for years.  He is always dressed to the nine and now I am just angry at myself for not speaking to him earlier, like ten years earlier...He (Freddie)was so nice, soft spoken, with the biggest grin ever. Did I mention the twinkle in his eye? He has not seen the last of me. Now the questions will flow as I have ten years of great style and conversations to catch up on...Stay tuned until we meet again.  I am hoping tomorrow.

Prevailing Love, as only a "MOM" can do!

MONSTERS, INC.

I LOVE these shirts. I LOVE these boys!  Not necessarily in that order, but the shirts do make them even harder to resist and probably allows them to get away with a little bit more.  Actually, I am proud to say that I would never describe my boys as MONSTERS.
Turkeys?- YES.
Fluent in Whine-O-nese?- Absolutely.
All Boy?- One, yes. One,no.
Dramatic?- One, yes. One, no.
Sensitive?-Both.
Lovely?- Some of the time and capable all the time.  Lord, I just sounded like my mother.
Cute?-Always!
Sleep?-Beautiful.My heart swells beyond words and like Star Wars, I am overcome by the force to cover them in kisses.
LOVE-My BOYS and my life!

Children and all their glory...

"A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for..."  author unknown

Holy Batman, Robin!

HOLY BATMAN,  ROBIN!

I just came home from the grocery store and thought my bill was a little high.  I use to put my receipt in a drawing for free groceries, but I guess with the recession they decided to stop all that nonsense...any who.  Well, I actually looked at my receipt and care to guess?  No, it was not an organic tomato, in fact it was an "ugly" tomato, seriously an UGLY tomato!  Drumroll please...$4.64.  Four dollars and sixty-four CENTS for a TOMATO.   Well, hell's bells when you pay FOUR DOLLARS and SIXTY FOUR CENTS for a TOMATO, your bill is going to be high. Well, of course it was a good-looking tomato for being so damn ugly.  If I had not wanted the BLT of my dreams, and the idea of taking two boys to the grocery store at the end of the day did not repeal me, I would have taken it back.  Bad Publix Bad!  O.K., I'm still trying to justify the tomato, I am hoping that the arugula, red-tipped lettuce, basil from my garden, along with my Costco bacon will offset my fabulous B.L.T.  I should have taken a picture of the B.L.T., but considering that I gobbled it in an upright position seconds after I put the top on(bread) and gave it a good firm smash, as the splash of balsamic, generous smear of hellman's, layers of basil, arugula, lettuce, bacon out the wah-zoo, and  that tomato...Well, it was never to be plated or ever seen again.  However, I did take a picture of  THE TOMATO.  Enjoy.
